Headline:NYBA TO HONOR ACORDA THERAPEUTICS CEO AND VWR INTERNATIONAL WITH ANNUAL LEADERSHIP AWARDS

New York Biotechnology Association (NYBA), the voice of New York State’s biotechnology industry, today announced the 2010 honorees of the Association’s annual leadership awards. Dr. Ron Cohen, CEO of Acorda Therapeutics, will be honored as “The Cures Start Here” Business Leader of the Year. VWR International, represented by Tim Grogan, Assistant Vice President, and Michael Williamson, Director of Business Development, will be honored as “The Cures Start Here” Service Provider of the Year.
Both awards will be conferred at the Awards Ceremony during the NewX2 BioCruise, the annual joint networking and awards event of NYBA and BioNJ, on Tuesday, June 8, 2010.
“’The Cures Start Here’ awards are conferred for outstanding service to the patient community and to the Association. With the recent FDA approval of the multiple sclerosis therapy AMPYRA™, Dr. Cohen and his team have positioned Acorda as a leading innovator in developing and commercializing medicines for people with neurologic diseases. He has been a strong, long-term supporter of NYBA and, we are proud to name Dr. Cohen as ‘The Cures Start Here’ Business Leader of the Year,” said Nathan Tinker, Executive Director of NYBA.
