NEW YORK BIOTECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES FELLOWS PROGRAM TO NURTURE NEW YORK’S EARLY STAGE LIFE SCIENCE COMPANIES
NEW YORK (August 04, 2011) – The New York Biotechnology Association (NYBA) today announced the launch of the NYBA Fellows Program, a new initiative to help grow and nurture New York’s emerging life science companies and entrepreneurs. The NYBA Fellows Program offers a two-year fellowship providing early-stage companies of seven employees or fewer with full access to the complete NYBA portfolio of benefits, including the NYBA group purchasing program, member services, and discounted access to seminars, conferences, and networking events.
“New York’s early-stage and incubator-based life science companies are the future of our bioscience industry,” said Nathan Tinker, Executive Director of NYBA. “The NYBA Fellows Program will offer the opportunity for these small, growing companies to lower their costs, network with their peers, and establish relationships with large biotech, device and pharmaceutical companies, investors, and potential employees. At a time when funding is hard to find and establishing a sustainable business is increasingly difficult, NYBA Fellows will have a leg-up in the highly competitive life science industry.”
The NYBA Fellows Program is open to biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostics and other life science companies in New York State that have seven or few employees and have received less than $5 million in funding.
Life science companies that are interested in becoming Fellows must identify a sponsor from NYBA Board of Directors and complete a simple application form. Fellows will be notified upon acceptance and will immediately gain access to the full array of NYBA member benefits and programs. Prospective Fellows can find more information and application online at http://bit.ly/qEZTIR .
