New York Biotechnology Association Congratulates Sustaining Member Pfizer on Prix Galien USA Award
New York—October 3, 2007— New York Biotechnology Association (NYBA), the voice of New York’s biotechnology industry, is proud to congratulate Pfizer Inc., one of two Sustaining Members of the Association, for winning the prize for Best Pharmaceutical Agent at the inaugural Prix Galien USA Prize Ceremony last week. The Prize was conferred on Pfizer for Chantix, a prescription medicine that helps adults to quit smoking.
“For nearly 40 years the Prix Galien Award has been considered the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for the pharmaceutical industry in Europe and around the world. As this great award now comes to the United States, NYBA is proud to be a sponsor of the inaugural Prix Galien USA,” said Nathan Tinker, Executive Director of New York Biotechnology Association. “We are particularly excited that Pfizer has been recognized by the awards committee for Best Pharmaceutical Agent for the first Prix Galien USA Award. Pfizer has been a Sustaining Member of NYBA for many years, and we are deeply appreciative of the company’s ongoing support. On behalf of NYBA, our Board of Directors, and membership, I congratulate Pfizer on this honor.”
